Red roses and chocolate are the quintessential presents for loved ones on Valentine's Day, but the conventional production of these gifts is anything but sweet for the environment and for the workers who produce them.

This Valentine's Day, you can treat your loved one and honor the environment at the same time by purchasing organic flowers and chocolates.

"The organic versions of these treats are some of the highest quality available," said Katherine DiMatteo, executive director for the Organic Trade Association. "According to many, organic flowers are more fragrant and last longer than their conventional counterparts and the organic chocolates being produced today are some of the finest tasting in the world."

To achieve a flawless appearance, conventional flowers are grown in massive greenhouses that utilize large quantities of pesticides. Organic flowers, however, are grown without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers. This makes it better for the surrounding environment and farm workers as well as the end recipient who can thoroughly enjoy the wonderful scents of an organic bouquet.

The production of conventional cocoa is second only to cotton production in pesticide use, according to the Pesticide Action Network. Conversely, organic cocoa is cultivated on plots under a shade canopy that preserve critical elements of the native tropical forests. Biologists have determined that this environmentally sound method of farming helps to maintain biodiversity and protect the winter habitat of millions of migratory songbirds.

Organic chocolates are created with the finest of care to ensure optimum quality and a rich, indulgent taste. Organic ingredients must be certified, and no ingredients can be genetically modified.

You can find organic chocolates and flowers at many natural products retailers. For further information, visit the Organic Trade Association's Web site at - NU

The Language of the Rose

Posted by Izzy Roose | 3:26 AM | 0 comments »

Expressing our feelings in effective ways is a hard task, and it’s something we deal with all the time. Babies express hunger, tiredness and other needs through crying, and it’s up to mom or dad to decipher the source of their conflict. Children are a little more advanced, they can talk. But their feelings are more advanced than a baby’s too, and they don’t always understand them. They have to learn to understand their feelings before they can even begin to express them effectively.

Teenagers are a little more practiced in both of these areas, but they are beginning to deal with the added complication of the reactions of others. They want to express their feelings without disrupting another’s. Adults deal with this too, and though they’ve had a lot of practice, they still struggle with it. Sometimes the reactions of others confuse our ability to express ourselves, no matter how well we’ve prepared.

Whatever stage of life you’re in, expression is an important part of it, and finding effective strategies can make life more meaningful and less painful.

A truly eloquent way of expression is through flowers. They say more than words, and they don’t get mixed up in the delivery. Here is a brief outline of the language of roses.

Red

A red rose says I love you. A dozen red roses say it even more. Anniversaries and other special moments in a romantic relationship are appropriate opportunities to express your affection through a red rose.

Orange

Orange roses say passion, enthusiasm or fascination.

Yellow

A yellow rose has mixed feelings. It can mean platonic love, dying love, or, if you’re from a German-speaking country, it can mean jealousy and infidelity.

Purple

Purple roses mean protection, such as paternal or maternal love.

Pink

A pink rose indicates grace, lesser feelings of love or, for a dark pink rose, gratitude.

White

White is the color of innocence and purity, and can be used to denote these attributes when presented as a rose. White roses can also mean secrecy, friendship, reverence and humility.

Roses can be used separately or in combinations of two or more colors to mean even more. They have their own language, and it can simplify communication. What’s more, giving a rose will nearly always ensure good feelings just because roses are beautiful—even if the receiver doesn’t know the language of the rose.

Oh, no, it's Valentine's Day again. Every man out there is wondering how in the world they will be able to express their feelings and tell their loved one just how much they really do love her. It's not easy and when you just do not know what to buy or say, it can be very frustrating. To help all of the guys out there to have a memorable and fun way of spending the day, here are some tips to help you.

First, start off by knowing what she likes. If you don't know this, take the time to find out through watching her. What are her favorite colors, scents books, anything that would help you. If you can't figure it out, give her friend a call and ask. Make sure that you know what it is that she enjoys; her clothing size and anything else that will help you to find the perfect give.

Suggestions:

* Make a meal. Send her to the store or anywhere to give yourself enough time to prepare a good meal for her. Make sure to dress up the table with candles and a beautiful table cloth. Put flowers into a vase and then clean yourself up too.

* Do you like the outdoors? If you both do, take a trip out to a nicely secluded area and watch the sunset. Make sure you preplan the evening including the location, bring some wine, maybe a basket with dinner in it and a blanket for cuddling.

* Go ice-skating. Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa afterwards.

* Build a snow couple in the middle of your front yard. Place a cute sign next to it that reads that you love her on it.

Gifts:

* Gift the gift of relaxation. Does she get her nails done or enjoy a spa? Give a gift certificate to her favorite location.

* For the loved one who loves to cook, give her a personalized apron and plan a special meal together.

* Luxury will get your far. Give her a luxurious bath robe, massage oils, and bath and body products for her to enjoy. You'll find them right online to purchase too.

* If she loves to dance but you have two left feet, visit a dance lesson several times and learn how. Surprise her with an evening out dancing.

* Purchase something that she would love to go with one of her collections, make sure she doesn't have it but would love it.

* Have her car detail cleaned, adding in a pair of driving gloves and perhaps some flowers to go with it.

* Time together. Probably the most amazing way for you two to make Valentine's Day special is through a special day together. Visit a museum, see a live show or find another way to spend time together. A nice meal at your favorite restaurant and time together can be the best way to enjoy the day.

Find a way that you two can get back to connecting with each other. This way, you can make it a much more personal day. Valentine's Day doesn't have to be difficult and frustrating.

Keep Romance Alive

Posted by Izzy Roose | 3:26 PM | 0 comments »

Keep the romance in a relationship alive with these quick tips.

Planning

If you are married, or living together its still important to get out of the house. Go on a date without children or friends at least once a month. Planning can often makes the difference between having a date or not. Even though a date is planned, spontaneity allows for following the whims of enjoyment. Always remember the cost of the date does not determine its value.

Create Memories

Every time you go out go somewhere. Creating new memories help relationships grow. Go on a date and experience something new together. The key to a successful romantic event is attitude.

Surprise

Surprise inspires romance, if you`re going to be back first, buy your lover`s favorite takeaway, and try to rush and arrange a beautiful candlelit dinner complete with wine and silver candlesticks. If you`re first out and slightly early, buy a bunch of roses and drop by your lover`s office, leaving them on her desk with an invitation to dinner tonight. On the way home, buy your lover`s favorite dessert or ice-cream, curl up together on the sofa after dinner, get that dessert out, and enjoy it together.

Surprise him/her with a sensuous massage after a romantic dinner. If you do not cook, you can still arrange a romantic dinner. Just make sure you show that you have put some thought into it order her favorite food or buy a picnic hamper packed with gourmet delights. Be adventurous, and eat in a park or beach. If it rains, just move indoors to a carpet picnic.

Communicate

Verbally express how you feel but remember action speaks louder than words, however, sometimes your mate needs to hear them.

Suspense

Keep your mate in suspense. It goes hand in hand with romance. Notes in his lunch or brief case : Slip a suggestive note in, and leave him hanging. Pack a quick lunch of sandwiches or your lover`s favorite for his/her lunch in a lunch box. Leave a romantic message inside. The anticipation will build all day.

Celebrate Memories

Give your mate a small memento to trigger memories.

Play Treasure Hunt.

Leave little notes telling her how much you care around the house in places you know she will find them, like on the bathroom mirror, on top of the milk, in her purse etc. You can also include clues on the bottom of each message to help her find her Valentine's day gift.

Romance

Wake up early, and prepare breakfast in bed for your lover. When your lover gets home late from work, suggest he or she lie in the bathtub while you scrub, rub and bathe him or her.

Keep it Fresh

Finding new activities that both enjoy heightens interest in being with each other. Unplug the television and the phone. Snuggle up on the couch together and watch a movie. Let him choose the movie, or choose one each and watch two. You want to have your mate's complete undivided attention. Light some incense or use scented candles. You will love the way they season the room. On the way home, buy your lover`s favorite dessert or ice-cream, curl up together on the sofa after dinner, get that dessert out, and enjoy it together.

Prepare

Always have after dinner mints. Nothing stifles romance than bad breath. Need I say more.

Music

Music can be very seductive. So when it comes to picking music, go with what you like. However, when creating a romantic mood keep in mind that Jazz and R&B is usually the music of choice. Don't forget to set your tape or CD player on continuous play. Nothing kills the mood like stopping to change the CD or to flip the tape. If the only source of music you have is the radio there is plenty of stations that plays Jazz and R&B. Serenade your mate even if singing is not your strong suit.

Compliment

Daily compliments to (and from) BOTH partners. Such as..."Hi honey, you look beautiful today!" Or "Hey handsome! You did a wonderful job pruning that tree!" You know just anything positive that you can think of to brighten your spouses day.

Thoughtful Gifts

Buy a thoughtful gift. Keep an ear and eye out for what she says she needs or wants. Always remember the cost of the gift does not determine its value. Buy him a present that takes some thought, like a book by his favorite author, or the DVD of his favorite movie. Buy him two tickets to see his favorite sports team, and tell him he can take a mate with him.

Spontaneity

On a rainy day, instead of taking the opportunity to do the errands, do the laundry, cleaning, etc... , take an afternoon nap. Put music on at a low volume and, enjoy yourselves in the stillness of the moment. Even though a date is planned, spontaneity allows for following the whims of enjoyment and keeps the dating experience from becoming old and disinteresting.

Participate

Keep conversation going. Ask questions. Be interested in what he/she is saying. Arrange to meet after work at that quiet pier where both of you love to sit and talk while enjoying the ocean breeze.

Candles

Dim the lights to add an air of mystery, and create a warm cozy feeling. If you`re going to be back first, buy your lover`s favorite takeaway, and try to rush and arrange a beautiful candlelit dinner complete with wine and silver candlesticks. Wear something sexy, but comfortable. Freeze candles a hour before using. They burn slower. If you don't want to use scented candles, you can use heated oil, potpourri or incense.

Celebrate Valentine's Day With Your kids!

Posted by Izzy Roose | 3:26 AM | 0 comments »

So February 14th is rolling around again, and why not take advantage of this holiday by giving your children a little extra love and attention. As a parent myself, I am sure that you give your children all the love and attention they need, but I also know that sometimes we get caught up in the hustles and bustles of day to day life. Use this opportunity so you too can relax, have fun and maybe even be a kid again yourself! With a little extra time and effort you can make this day extra special and unique, by celebrating and reconnecting with your children in the tradition of Valentine's Day. Here are some fun ways to celebrate with your kids:

1)Plan Ahead! Sit down with your child the weekend before Valentine's Day and help them write or create Valentine's Day cards for their friends and classmates. Use this opportunity to teach your child a good life lesson, "To be kind to others and treat everyone with the same respect that they would like for themselves". Think back to your days of grade school. Remember how sometimes Valentine's Day became a measure of popularity when one child got no Valentine's, while another child got more Valentine's then even another. It may be a nice gesture to encourage your child to equally give Valentine's Day cards to all of their classmates and friends.

2)Even though you may not be able to spend the entire day with your child, you can make your presence known during the middle of the day by leaving an "I Love You", "XOXOXO", or Happy Valentine's Day card or note in their lunchbox. It might embarrass them a little, but deep down inside it will warm their hearts and have a lasting loving affect.

3)Make an extra special dinner for the family. Why not have a family picnic? Depending on which part of the country you live in, some of you may be thinking "Hey, it's cold in February!" Be creative, you can have a picnic either inside or outside. Think red or pink for theme decor. Lay a red or pink blanket down, surround yourself with pillows and make it comfy! Use some heart shaped decorative napkins, Valentine's Day themed plastic plates and utensils. For the meal, red or pink food coloring can turn almost any food into a Valentine's Day themed food. How about some Valentine's Day BBQ Chicken, mashed potatoes with red food coloring added, or white cheddar macaroni and cheese with red food coloring added. For the veggies you can have tomatoes, radishes, red peppers, or beets. For drinks, cherry flavored cool aid, raspberry ginger ale, or strawberry Quick may be fun! Ready for dessert? You can use the traditional sweets such as heart shaped chocolates, cupcakes with red or pink frosting, or sugar cookies cut out with a heart shaped cookie cutter made with red food coloring and sprinkles. Or try some healthy alternatives, sugar-free strawberry or cherry Jell-O, strawberries and cool whip, or apples sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and cut into hearts using a heart shaped cookie cutter.

4)Give them a lesson in history! Are you wondering why we even begun celebrating Valentine's Day? I am sure your kids were wondering the same thing. Here is a little history that you can share with them over you special dinner. Some of the legends that I have heard state:

a) St. Valentine was a priest during third century Rome, and the emperor during this time was Emperor Claudius II. Emperor Claudius II felt that single men made better soldiers then those that were married. St. Valentine was a priest that married young couples against his Emperor's wishes. When Emperor Claudius II found out that St. Valentine married the young couples, he sentenced St.Valentine to death.

b) Another fable states that Valentine was an imprisoned man that fell in love with his imprisoner's daughter. Right before Valentine was put to death he wrote a love letter to the imprisoner's daughter and signed it "Your Valentine".

c) Yet another tale speaks of Cupid as he relates to Valentine's Day. In ancient Greece Cupid was known as Eros the young son of Aphrodite,(the goddess of love and beauty). While, in Rome, he was the son of Mercury, (winged messenger of the gods), and his mother was Venus the (goddess of love). Either way, he was considered a mischievous and playful infant who struck humans and gods with his bow and arrows. It has been declared that those who were struck by the arrows would fall in love.

5)Involve your kids in a family project! Buy a disposable camera for each family member, and take pictures during your day. Buy some pink, red, or white poster boards and label them "My Special Valentine's Day, "Valentine's Day with My Family", or anything else, you as a family choose! Don't forget to add the year so you can remember the exact date. Use glitter, stickers, and colored markers to decorate. Once you develop the photos, you can add the photos to the decorated poster board as a family and create a collage of your special day.

6)Give your kids a gift to remind them of this special day. Use the internet to facilitate your shopping experience. For some great gift ideas, designer baby bedding, clocks for kids rooms, bedroom furniture for kids, personalized items for kids and so much more visit Kids Decor Galore.

January is National Breakup Month

Posted by Izzy Roose | 3:26 PM | 0 comments »

If it wasn't enough to have January being one of the coldest, if not dreariest, months of the year, they had to go and dub it the month more couples break up than any other month of the year.

Six out of ten couples will break up this month. Sounds awful, doesn't it?

I never cared much for January anyway. After-Christmas bills are piling in, it's too cold to enjoy most outdoor sports (or the ones I like anyway), and everything looks so bare and dreary. No wonder this is the month for the most breakups.

But, other than that, why is it that January beats out the others?

Here's my educated guess. Valentine's Day is right around the corner.

Something clicks in people's heads that if they plan on getting out, they better do it now before it's too late. When Valentine's Day hits, they surely want to be with someone they love, or they don't want to break their once-loved one's heart on the most romantic day of the year so they do it now.

Another reason why it might be that January brings forth more breakups than any other month could be that the new year signals new beginnings. It is a time when people step back and reflect on the previous year, and if there are changes to be made, this is the time to do it.

Unfortunate for some, these changes include a reevaluation of their love life.

If a relationship isn't working, and can't be fixed, a breakup is inevitable. The Dear John or Dear Janet letter goes out, and that's if they even bother to tell them at all. Believe me, from what I hear, some choose to just vanish from the scene of the crime without any warning, the dirty scumbags that they are.

So, what happens if you're the dumpee?

After you've mourned the loss of your relationship, turn the other cheek and try to learn what it is you were supposed to learn from the relationship. Every relationship is a learning lesson in humility, courage and stamina. Other lessons will be learned, but those are enough in itself.

If you keep in mind that every single person who comes into your life from here on out on a soul mate basis does so for a reason, it helps you to see why it is that people are there in the first place. Some are not meant to be long-term. In fact, some just come into your life to help you with a particular situation, and they are gone. More than likely, most of them left in January, according to statistics, but even though they are gone in the flesh, their spirit will linger forever.

The reason for this is that when two soul mates meet in the first place, it is one spirit calling to another. The one spirit recognizes the other spirit from a previous life perhaps, but whatever the case, there is instant recognition.

That recognition, that spiritual connection, will never go away even if the breakup ends on less than amicable terms.

This may or may not be what you want to hear, but from a professional stand-point, this is what happens.

So, if you happen to be one of the statistics this year, and you become the victim of a breakup, remember that there was a reason for the two of you to come together in the first place. Figure out what it was that you learned from it, and go on from there.

Breaking up is certainly hard to do because nothing hurts worse than the pain of the heart.

Even though it seems a callous thing on the part of your boyfriend/girlfriend, think of it as a favor. To extend a bad relationship would be detrimental to your well-being. Things would only escalate, and who knows what might happen.

There is a distinct plan for you, and this certain person was only meant to come into your life to teach you something, or you teach him, so find ways to look on this as a learning experience. You'll come out ahead in the long run and it will only empower you for the next relationship.

And just think of how nice the next one will be because you have learned a valuable lesson that will give you more strength and power than you had before.

With each relationship, you grow stronger and more confident in what does and does not make you happy. Before long, you will find the one who is supposed to be with you on a long term basis.

Meanwhile, pick up the pieces, learn what it is you are supposed to learn from this relationship, and move on into a better life and a better world of pure, soul mate love.

Have you heard of Great lover's Day? It falls on April 2nd every year. Every body knows about Valentine's Day, but few seem to be aware of Great lover's Day. I sometimes wonder that lovers need a day everyday to celebrate. Because when one falls in romantic love, one wants love at every moment. One wants to be with his/her darling at every moment. Since celebrating such days with flowers is becoming common, I was thinking about how lovers can celebrate such days with something from the Internet. And I thought, why not desktop wallpapers that are designed around the theme of love?

Here are my reasons. What does a lover want from his/her darling? A message of love and an assurance that love is being reciprocated in. What else? Something that can remind the lover at all times of his/her darling, and feel the love. Enjoy the romantic moments and the bliss of love. What can be better than desktop wallpaper on love?

A Desktop Wallpaper sent by the beloved will always remain on the screen. The lover will get to look at it whenever he/she works on the computer. The wallpaper will remind the lover of his/her darling and the care they have shown in selecting beautiful desktop wallpaper and sent it. The lovers would enjoy working on their computers, and would not like to stop the work mid way. The desktop wallpaper is after all on the screen.

Lovers are called crazy, because they defy all logic and conventions. Lovers live for love and to love. A lover is different than other mortals. Because love is the greatest emotion - positive and most enchanting. How about celebrating Great lovers Day with desktop wallpapers?

The Eternal Rose – Amorosa Rose - Single Red Rose £8.99

Find-me-a-gift have found the perfect flower to send for any occasion to your mum, your friends or to a loved one on Valentines Day. The Amorosa rose is a new concept in flowers and with tender care will last as long as your love!

To receive Fresh flowers is wonderful, but after a while they wilt and die; not very good as a symbol of your enduring love! The Amorosa eternal rose is different. Although it is a totally natural product, and looks and feels exactly like a fresh flower, unlike a fresh flower it will not fade, wilt or die. It's all thanks to some clever people who have figured out an ingenious technique, using a glycerine-based solution together with natural food dyes, to preserve the beautiful flower. The Eternal Rose will live for years without water, as natural colour dyes and materials have been used to replace the water in the cell structure, to stabilise the plant. It feels soft to the touch, unlike dried flowers. This means that it will last indefinitely*, without a single drop of water, as a lasting token of affection and love. The Eternal rose the perfect everlasting flower.

Red roses are the ultimate symbol of romantic love and not only do they only speak of passion, but also stands for noble values such as respect and courage. The amorosa single red rose embraces this meaning completely.

Each rose is packaged in cone wrap decorative packing and shipped in dark hunter green leather look finish postal tube with black end caps.

*If properly cared for, preserved flowers need very little care other than gentle dusting. They will last for many months provided that they are kept away from direct sunlight and wet or humid atmospheres, which can reverse the osmosis process and cause some of the colour dyes to 'leach' (this is not harmful but may stain surfaces).
